What is Chiropractic?

A healthcare profession focused on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders, especially those related to the spine, believing proper alignment helps the nervous system and body function better.

Is it Safe? Does it Hurt?

Generally considered very safe, non-invasive, and drug-free, but no treatment is risk-free; slight soreness or stiffness after an adjustment (like after exercise) is common and usually fades within 24 hours.

What Does a Visit Involve?

Initial Visit: History taking, physical and Orthopedic exam (posture, alignment), potentially X-rays, discussion of treatment plan, and first adjustment, which may consist of modalities like electric muscle stim, heat, stretching and massage.

Treatment: Manual adjustments (spinal manipulation), soft tissue therapy, exercises, stretches; sessions vary in length.

What Conditions Can it Treat?

Back/neck pain, headaches, sciatica, piriformis syndrome, Thoracic Outlet syndrome, Numbness into the arms or legs, posture issues, sports injuries, joint pain, and some TMJ or nerve-related issues like dizziness.

Do I Need a Referral? Is it Covered by Insurance?

Often, no referral is needed, but check with your insurance as plans vary; many do cover chiropractic care.

What Are the Chiropractor's Qualifications?

Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) are highly trained professionals with rigorous education and are licensed to practice in all states.
